Kyle VanHeckeChef , Kearney Culinary Academy
Chef Kyle is a South Kansas City native, who has always had a passion for cooking. After graduating from Archbishop O’Hara high school, he set off to pursue his dream of becoming a chef. Kyle has been cooking professionally for eight years, starting off his tenure under one of the best chefs in the country, Josiah Citrin of Melisse.
Working side by side with chefs in a two-star Michelin restaurant, he learned to perfect a dinner service with efficiency and grace. Since then, Chef Kyle has spent time at The Neighborhood Café, Rusty Horse Tavern and Stock Hill on the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City.
Outside of the kitchen, Kyle loves going to local farmers markets to peruse the produce early on Saturday morning. He also loves to drink craft beer and listen to music.
