Bio

Leaving a promising career in the medical industry, Carey was compelled to literally “follow her nose.” Pursuing something altogether different, Carey graduated from JCCC’s Culinary School and became certified from the Court of Master Sommeliers.
When she wasn’t selling wine for major distributors, she founded Salt Catering KC, specializing in tasteful creations from farm-fresh, local ingredients. Salt is known for their unique menus designed for food lovers, having been featured in Martha Stewart’s WeddingWire blog. And with the help of her husband, she and John opened the Saint James Event Center. Blocks away from Liberty, MO’s downtown square, the fully restored gothic-inspired church towers over the historic neighborhood, as a timeless event space for hosts and their guests.
Carey is the president of Kearney Culinary Academy and a chef you’ll likely meet in one of our many classes. She is a talented teacher, steadfast entrepreneur and all-around food fanatic; We are happy to have her at the helm.
